As a holiday that quite literally involves scattering chocolate around your background, Easter can be a dangerous day for our favorite pups. Not to worry, with a bit of extra thought, your dog can have a safe and fun celebration. Just keep these five rules in mind this upcoming Easter Sunday.
1. Keep your pup indoors during the Easter egg hunt
Even though they'd love to be outside exploring, the likelihood of your pup breaking into an egg during an Easter hunt and chowing down on some chocolate is high. Instead, keep them inside and distracted with their favourite Bully Bunches chew.
2. Don’t forget where you hid the Easter eggs
Your dog’s an expert at egg hunts! We guarantee any chocolate you miss, your pup will find. Make sure to do a thorough search of the yard before letting your dog back outside.
3. Avoiding sharing your dinner
Ingredients commonly found in Easter foods like grapes, raisins, onions, and garlic can be poisonous for pups. If you can't resist sharing, be aware of what's in the table scraps you let your pets eat.
4. Stay away from all things sugar-free.
Avoid the temptation to sneak your dog some sugar-free treats! Artificial sweeteners, like Xylitol, can be extremely harmful to your pet. A chocolate-free cookie may seem like the perfect dessert for your pet, but diet ingredients can do just as much damage.
5. Step back from spring flowers
Daffodils, Lilies, and Tulips can be toxic to dogs. If you have a pup that will munch on anything, make sure these blooms stay out of their reach.
